COVID-19 Protocols
The College of Dental Surgeons, along with the BC Centre for Disease Control, Worksafe BC, and the Provincial Health Officer have published guidelines that will allow the return of dental services.
Our dental practice has always complied with strict provincially mandated infection control protocols. However, there will be additional measures put in place to augment patient and staff safety.
Some of these measures will be:
Screening of patients for COVID-19 risk factors at time of scheduling and upon arrival to our office. If there are any positive risk factors, patients will be rescheduled.
Screening of dental staff members for COVID-19 risk factors on a daily basis.
Social distancing of patients in the office. Appointment times will be staggered to avoid patient interaction. Patients will be asked to wait in their vehicle or outside the building until they can be called in and escorted to their treatment room.
Common areas (lobby, washroom, door handles, and reception desk) touch points will be wiped with disinfectant wipes every 2 hours. Pens, clipboards, and debit terminal will be disinfected after every use. The waiting room will be cleared of magazines, toys, and any books.
Patients will be asked to perform hand hygiene upon arrival and departure of the office.
Patients will be asked to pre-rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide rinse for 60 seconds prior to treatment to decrease bacterial and viral load in their saliva.
The reception desk will have a plexiglass barrier to create social distancing between staff and patients. Where social distancing is not possible, staff will be wearing personal protective equipment including masks, glasses, and gloves.
We look forward to getting back to work and taking care of you.
Dr. Ken Lawrence.
